# Common questions

Answers to practical questions about mining and rewards.

## Do I need mining hardware?

No. Mining is MINU’s theme for placing tokens into the Solana program. It is not proof-of-work.

## Do new miners earn from SOL already in the pool?

Yes. A confirmed new position earns from the existing available reserve going forward. SOL already earned by other positions remains theirs.

## Do incoming fees benefit positions already open?

Yes. New funding contributes after synchronization and is shared by active positions. You do not need to reopen a position.

## Why do existing miners earn less per minute when someone joins?

The same release is shared across more total reward weight. Each existing position’s percentage becomes smaller. Its previously earned SOL stays unchanged.

## Why are two similar positions showing different totals?

Check MINU amounts, multipliers and opening times. A position opened earlier may have earned from releases that a later position missed. Compare earnings over the same time interval.

## Does Gold always pay 1.5 times as much as Bronze?

For equal MINU amounts active over the same interval, Gold has 1.5 times the reward weight of Bronze. The actual SOL total also depends on reserve funding, participation and time spent active. It is not a fixed yield.

## Can I claim while my MINU is locked?

Yes, if the position has unlocked unpaid rewards. Claiming does not end or restart its MINU lock.

## What happens when the lock expires?

Your position keeps earning until you withdraw. New earnings are immediately unlocked. There is no automatic withdrawal or new lock.

## Are claimed rewards still counted as new pool funding?

No. A claim reduces the vault balance and the amount owed to the position together. It does not create another reward budget.

## Does the 1% rule guarantee rewards forever?

No fixed payout is promised. Without replenishment, the available reserve and future releases shrink. New fees can replenish it. Integer rounding can leave small residual balances.

## Does the collector automatically claim my rewards?

No. It collects creator fees and synchronizes rewards. Your wallet must approve your own claims and withdrawals.

## Why can a confirmed claim differ from the displayed estimate?

Elapsed time, new positions, funding, previous claims and rounding can change the settled amount between a screen update and confirmation.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.minerinu.app/frequently-asked-questions.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
