# The three mines

Compare lock durations, multipliers and each position’s share.

![Compare lock durations, multipliers and each position’s share.](https://3637948861-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FAj4DZ2s1GvjVs45QXf35%2Fuploads%2FF9rMudmmb6jFeS0g6GsX%2Fmetals-mines-v1.gif?alt=media)

Choose a mine when opening each position. The choice sets how long your MINU is locked and how much reward weight it contributes.

| Mine | Minimum MINU lock | Reward multiplier |
| ------ | ----------------- | ----------------- |
| Bronze | 4 hours           | 1×                |
| Silver | 8 hours           | 1.25×             |
| Gold   | 16 hours          | 1.5×              |

## Weight determines your share

**Position weight = MINU amount × mine multiplier.**

**Position share = position weight ÷ total weight of all active positions.**

All three mines share one available reserve. They do not receive equal thirds or maintain separate fixed budgets.

For the same MINU amount over the same earning interval, Bronze, Silver and Gold have reward weights in the ratio **4 : 5 : 6**. A longer lock therefore earns a larger share per MINU under the same conditions.

{% hint style="info" %}
The multiplier changes your relative share. It does not multiply a promised SOL amount or establish a fixed APY.
{% endhint %}

## Comparing positions correctly

Compare equal token amounts over the same interval. A position opened earlier may have participated in releases that a later position missed. Its lifetime total can therefore be different even with the same mine and amount.

Opening more positions does not create extra reward weight by itself. Splitting 10,000 MINU into two 5,000 MINU positions with the same multiplier produces the same combined weight, apart from transaction timing and rounding.

## Each deposit has its own clock

Every new position starts its own lock when opened. A new deposit does not reset another position’s clock. Claims do not reset the lock either.

After expiry, your position stays active and continues earning until you withdraw. It does not automatically withdraw or relock. New rewards on a matured position are immediately unlocked.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.minerinu.app/mining-positions.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
