# Rewards, claims and withdrawals

Understand the 1% release, changing shares, unlocking and payouts.

![Understand the 1% release, changing shares, unlocking and payouts.](https://3637948861-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FAj4DZ2s1GvjVs45QXf35%2Fuploads%2FGyCzqbJjtAcklhhfcpGL%2Fmetals-rewards-v1.gif?alt=media)

Each active minute, **1% of the remaining available reserve** is released gradually over 60 active seconds. Your position earns its weighted share of that release while active.

## What “available reserve” means

The entire vault balance is not a fresh distribution budget. It includes SOL already earned by miners but not yet paid, as well as available funding and account rent.

| Balance                                   | Meaning                                                         |
| ----------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Available reserve | Funding that can support future reward releases. |
| Earned unpaid rewards | SOL owed to positions, including locked and unclaimed earnings. |
| Incoming funding awaiting synchronization | Newly received SOL not yet incorporated into reward accounting. |
| Account rent | SOL needed to keep the on-chain account active. |

Once a reward is earned, it belongs to that position. It is not returned to the available reserve merely because it has not been claimed.

## An example of the release rule

With 10 SOL available, the next active minute has a 0.1 SOL release budget. If no new funding arrives, the following minute starts from the smaller remaining reserve.

If one position represents 10% of all active weight throughout a release, it earns 10% of that release. Its share changes if positions join or leave. This is an illustration of the rule, not a promised payout.

## How participation changes your rate

* **A new miner joins:** total active weight increases. Existing positions share future releases with the newcomer, so their individual shares decrease.
* **A position withdraws:** total active weight decreases. Remaining positions receive a larger share of subsequent releases.
* **New fees arrive:** synchronized funding increases the reserve available for future releases.
* **No miners are active:** distribution pauses and available funding stays in the vault.

These events change future earning rates. They do not rewrite rewards already earned.

## Unlocking follows the original position clock

![Reward unlocking follows the position’s original lock progress](https://3637948861-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FAj4DZ2s1GvjVs45QXf35%2Fuploads%2Fwix3PyPxg7mJS4CBo7QC%2Fclaims-restored-v2.gif?alt=media)

Earned SOL unlocks progressively with the position’s age: **50% halfway through the lock and 100% at expiry**, minus previous claims. New earnings use the same original progress; after expiry, they are immediately unlocked.

| Display            | What it means                                                     |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Allocated rewards | Cumulative SOL earned by the position, including previous claims. |
| Available to claim | Unlocked earnings that have not yet been claimed. |
| Still locked | Earned SOL that has not yet unlocked. |

## Claim, withdraw and close

**Claim:** approve a reward payment with your wallet. Your MINU stays in the mine, its lock is unchanged, and it keeps earning.

**Withdraw:** after the lock expires, approve return of the entire MINU amount. The program settles rewards and pays eligible whole-lamport SOL. The position stops earning after withdrawal.

**Close:** after withdrawal, close the position to recover eligible account rent. Network fees are separate from rewards and account rent.

{% hint style="info" %}
There is no guaranteed daily return. Incoming fees, reserve size and participation all vary. Whole-lamport rounding can leave small residual amounts.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.minerinu.app/rewards-and-claims.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
